"To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty, and in the same field, it beholds, every hour, a picture which was never seen before and which shall never be seen again." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Lisa Miller is an award-winning wedding and lifestyle photographer based in NC. Originally from the Raleigh area, she moved to Davie County in 2008. Her passion is natural photography that captures expressions, draws the viewer in to the story, and is custom created for the subject. Working out of her portrait studio, or on location for an outdoor photography session, Lisa believes that her relationships with her clients are the foundation of incredible images.

While she was certainly born with passion in her heart and may as well have been born with a camera in her hand, Lisa also pursued continuing education classes in photography, studied under senior photographers, and paid many dues towards learning her craft. She now owns and operates Simply Southern Photography, Inc. and enjoys mentoring junior photographers and teaching classes. She is a member of WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International), PP of NC (Professional Photographers of NC), PPA (Professional Photographers of America), and many civic and local organizations. She enjoys working with pet rescue groups and other non-profits as well as small businesses and performing arts groups.

In her daily life, Lisa has a deep appreciation for her family, friends and faith as well as Emerson, anything vintage - especially the 1920s and 1930s, a great sense of humor, the craziness that comes with self-awareness in photographs, and being outside in the sunshine.

Her style has been described by her clients as vintage photography with a modern portrait touch, documentary and candid while still artful and contemporary, natural and fun, and "me but better!" Some of her favorite moments are watching her clients as they experience the emotion and joy of a moment all over again through their photographs. To Lisa, photography is about the everyday moments of life - the ones that weave together in our memories and hearts to create what we are and what we love. Photography is a means to remember those we've lost, rejoice in what we cherish, and experience things we may never see again.
